Vegan Weekend in the Mátra

The three-day “Vegan Weekend” in August, organized in collaboration between NÉGYOSZ and Gergely Litkai, took place at the picturesque Mátra Hiking Center. The event created a unique opportunity to deepen knowledge of sustainability, plant-based nutrition, and personal connections.

Culinary Experiences

Participants enjoyed an extraordinary variety of high-quality plant-based dishes throughout the weekend. Dietitian and chef Szilvia Magyarvári ensured that guests could indulge themselves fully. For three days, every meal offered a delightful gastronomic experience, significantly enhancing the quality of the program.

Science and Humor in a New Light

In his opening lecture, Gergely Litkai humorously yet scientifically explored the connections between a plant-based diet and sustainability. His presentation not only offered new perspectives for professional audiences but also brought the world of stand-up comedy closer to sustainable eating—essentially opening new doors for the promotion of plant-based nutrition in Hungary. It is well known that plant-based menus are also available at the Dumaszínház.

Lectures and Professional Depth

The lecture by Gergely Zsolnay attracted particularly strong interest. Originally planned for ninety minutes, the program lasted over three hours, reflecting the audience’s great demand for high-quality expertise. His presentation clearly highlighted the close interconnections between nutrition, nature, and agricultural practices, all of which are fundamental to a sustainable future.

Community Experience

The weekend was rich not only in professional content but also in community experiences: shared hikes—uninterrupted even by rain—sauna sessions, and many informal conversations strengthened the bonds among participants.

This event clearly demonstrates that a program built around plant-based eating can be both professionally grounded, rich in experiences, and community-building. For this reason, NÉGYOSZ plans to organize similar events in the future.
