The Future of Nutrition Science Is in Students’ Hands
NÉGYOSZ aims to encourage health sciences students to explore plant-based nutrition through a scholarship program and professional support.
A growing body of health and nutrition research is focusing on the role of plant-based diets, whether in disease prevention, sustainability, or the transformation of modern eating habits. According to the National Association of Plant-Based Food Manufacturers and Distributors (NÉGYOSZ), it is particularly important that future healthcare professionals and researchers are introduced to these topics during their university years and have opportunities to deepen their expertise.
NÉGYOSZ–University of Pécs Cooperation Agreement
In this spirit, NÉGYOSZ participated as a supporter of the 32nd Faculty Scientific Students’ Conference of the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Pécs, held in Szombathely on 8–9 May 2026. Year after year, the event serves as an important meeting point for students who actively engage in scientific work during their studies, conduct research, ask questions, and seek new approaches in various fields of health sciences.

Our Association recognized outstanding student achievements with special awards, aiming to encourage young researchers to confidently explore innovative and forward-looking topics. Ervin Nagy, President of NÉGYOSZ, attended the event in person.
Participation in the conference was particularly important, as NÉGYOSZ and the University of Pécs had previously signed a cooperation agreement. Beyond being a successful professional event, the conference also served as a starting point for new ideas and future collaborations.

NÉGYOSZ Aims to Support Young Researchers
Following the event, Ervin Nagy initiated a project to explore how NÉGYOSZ could actively support university students in conducting research and professional work related to plant-based nutrition. The aim is to provide students with greater motivation and stronger professional backing to engage with topics that may play a significant role in promoting public health and sustainable nutrition in the long term.
The initiative was formally adopted as an official NÉGYOSZ project at the Association’s 2026 General Assembly.
As part of this initiative, NÉGYOSZ will launch its first scholarship-supported program for health sciences students in the coming months. The program is intended to offer more than just financial assistance. Our goal is to create an inspiring professional environment that helps young people gain a deeper understanding of the scientific foundations of plant-based nutrition, current research developments, and future opportunities in the field.

NÉGYOSZ firmly believes that education and awareness-building play a key role in shaping the future of nutrition. In this regard, students and young professionals who approach emerging dietary trends with curiosity, scientific rigor, and an open mind have a particularly important role to play.
The initiative received a highly positive response. In her report on the conference, Prof. Dr. Annamária Pakai, Director of Education at the Szombathely Training Centre of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Pécs, dedicated an entire paragraph to expressing her appreciation for our contribution:
“It was a particular pleasure and honor for us that the National Association of Plant-Based Food Manufacturers and Distributors (NÉGYOSZ) recognized the outstanding scientific work and professional achievements of the students participating in the conference with special awards.
The presentation of these awards provides especially valuable feedback for our students, as it reinforces the importance of their scientific interests, research activities, and dedication to their chosen profession.”
